The State Advisory Council on Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness formed in October 1998 (Chapters 1 and 2, Acts of 1998). The Council advised the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene on administration of the Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Fund. The Fund is used to promote public education and awareness about organ, tissue and eye donations (Code Health-General Article, secs. 13-901 through 13-906).
The Council last met in June 2004. Authorization for the Council was repealed effective July 1, 2006 (Chapter 457, Acts of 2006).
