The Special House Committee on Drug and Alcohol Abuse was created and appointed as an ad hoc committee by the House Speaker in 1987. Annually, the Committee's work is reviewed by the Speaker. It meets during the legislative interim to study and make recommendations for legislation concerned with drug and alcohol abuse. The Committee made a preliminary report in May 1987 and submits a summary report to the House Speaker each December.
