Board member, Maryland Historical Society; Action for the Homeless; Maryland Education Coalition; Maryland Low-Income Housing Coalition. John R. Hargreaves Distinguished Legislative Fellow Award, 2003. President's Medal, The Johns Hopkins University, 2003. Married; three children. Died in Baltimore, Maryland, November 14, 2003.
