The Archives of Maryland on-line derives its organizational structure from William Sumner Jenkins' Early State Records project for the Library of Congress. Jenkins categorized the records that he collected by the branches of government or agencies that created them. The lefthand sidebar generally uses Jenkins' categories with additions to incorporate record series that Jenkins did not include; Early State Records, however, has its own sidebar, using only Jenkins' categories. Each entry in the sidebar provides a link to a listing of all volumes within that category. When a document exists both on Early State Records microfilm and as an Archives of Maryland Online volume, the table of contents for the category contains links to both versions.

Clicking on the Calvert coin returns you to the Archives of Maryland Online home page.

Some volumes are part of the Maryland State Archives site. A hyperlink at the bottom of those pages will return you to the Archives of Maryland Online.
